Terms & Conditions
By using the Anderson James website, you agree to be bound by the following Terms & Conditions:
Appliance repairs
We aim to repair all makes and models of domestic kitchen appliances. However there are elements outside of our control which can impact our ability to obtain spare part(s) and ultimately repair an appliance. You agree that in such cases where we cannot source compatible spare part(s) for the repair, our one-off labour charge shall remain payable.
We operate under a one-off fixed labour charge, in lieu of an hourly or per visit charge. This labour charge will cover you for as long as it takes the engineer for call out, diagnostic and labour. Should a return visit be required, this will also be covered.
Any spare part(s) which may be required are not covered by our one-off labour charge, and will need to be paid for in addition to the labour charge.
Payment is required on or before the engineer’s first visit. In cases where spare part(s) need to be ordered, these will need to be paid for before an order will be placed. Certain parts may be marked as “special order” by the suppliers. In these cases, you will not be able to cancel the order of the spare part(s). In cases of cancellation requests, no refund will be applicable.
Should you pay for spare part(s) which are then found not to be required, we will take the part(s) back and you will be issued with a refund.
Spare parts generally take approximately 5 working days to reach us. However in some cases this can be longer. If the engineer is aware of a longer lead time than normal, then they will notify you however this cannot be guaranteed as lead times can change quickly.
We do our utmost to attend to your repair on the requested date and time slot, however occasionally this may not be possible for us. In such cases, we will contact you to reschedule the appointment.
We do not repair commercial appliances, however we will repair domestic appliances within commercial premises. In such cases, we do not offer a guarantee on these repairs.
We do not accept any losses which you may incur directly, or indirectly, before, during or after us providing our products and/or services. This includes, and not limited to; food loss, loss of income, laundry costs, etc.
If you would like us to repair more than one appliance, we would be happy to do so. Please note however that we charge a one-off labour charge per appliance.
If you have booked a repair and subsequently no one is home during our visit, we may ask you to pay our one-off labour charge upfront before we will reattend.
If we have already attended to your repair and no one is home during our return visit, we will offer one further appointment free of charge. Should there not be anyone home for a second time, we may ask you to pay another one-off labour charge before we will reattend. In such cases, no refunds will be applicable for any spare part(s) purchases. You will be offered the opportunity to collect the spare part(s) free of charge from our premises, or we can post these to you at any additional cost – you can find out more information by contacting us.
It is your responsibility to ensure that our engineer has parking provided. This can be your driveway, free off-street parking, or a valid parking permit provided.
We reserve the right not to install any spare part(s) not sourced by us. The safety of our customers, and property, is our highest priority and we reserve the right to enforce this as we are unable to guarantee the validity or history of any spare parts which we have not sourced.
We may, at our absolute discretion, agree to install parts supplied by you. In such cases this will void any and all guarantees provided by us for the repair.
Repair issues which may arise
If you log a repair under guarantee this will only apply to the same fault recurring. Should we attend to find a different fault, or one caused by customer misuse, neglect or poor installation, we reserve the right to charge you the full one-off labour charge.
Our one-off labour charge is not dependent on the outcome of any repair. This means that if we are unable to complete the repair, such as due to spare part(s) not being available from our suppliers, our one-off labour charge will remain payable.
Repairs may require the appliance being fully accessible including needing to be taken out of the cavity. In such cases it is your responsibility to ensure that this is possible. In cases where we are unable to do this without risk of damage, we reserve the right to abort the repair and our full one-off labour charge will remain payable.
Should you need to cancel your repair we ask you to give us as much notice as possible. If we have already travelled to your property and/or the repair process has started the full one-off labour charge will be payable.
We will take care to repair your appliance without any damage to the appliance or your property, however we cannot be held liable for any such damage unless it was due to our negligence. Any damage must be reported to the engineer at the time of the visit, or within 48 hours to us in writing via email to enquiries@anderson-james.com.
In the event of non-payment of any fees outstanding to us we shall take such action as we consider appropriate. This includes, but is not limited; engaging a third party debt recovery agents to recover the outstanding amounts and/or instigating proceedings against you in court. In such cases all costs will be added to the principal sum owing plus £50 administration fee and all costs levied by the debt recovery agents.
Repair guarantee
All repairs carried out by us are guaranteed for a period of six (6) months starting from the date the repair was completed. For the avoidance of doubt, the repair completed date is the last visit during which the engineer tested the appliance to be working and free from any fault(s) you described when booking the service.
This guarantee covers the original fault(s) recurring within this period, as well as any spare parts which we supplied and fitted becoming faulty within this period. Our repair guarantee does not apply to domestic appliances in commercial premises, or domestic appliances used for commercial purposes.
